DVDs...

Well we havent been up to much around here but I feel like it has been a while since I posted! Jack is learning new things every day and usually they are things I do not approve of...when does he stop testing his limits??? Anyways, he has recently learned how to open up the DVDs (even the ones with the latches on the side) and then turn on the DVD player, open up the DVD player and put the DVD in. Then he proceeds to the couch to wait for the movie to start...really??? Well Clay put his Baby Einstein DVD in the computer once for him to watch and so now he also knows how to open up the computer and put the DVD in and then get up on the chair. I wish I had a video of it but I just managed a picture. We have since bought hooks to keep the DVD drawers locked but they still open slightly...just enough to get one DVD out. I dont think there is enough time in the day for time out with this kid!!! At least he is cute :)

Proud of himself!

Waiting for his movie to start...

Trying to win me over with his smile I guess

Best buds...

After the Mariners game Steve headed down to Oregon to go white water rafting but came back to stay with us for a couple more days before heading home to Indiana! The first couple of days he was here it was so hot...up in the 90's...and when you have no A/C it is quite miserable. But we went swimming and tried to keep cool! We watched the Olympics every day, all day and Jack got to play with his uncle which he loved!!! After our 90+ degree weather it cooled down dramatically and was rainy and about 65...talk about a contrast (he got to experience the great NorthWest I guess)!!! We had so much fun with him out here and cant wait for his next trip!!!!

Just hanging out in the cool water!!!

Going for a ride!!!!

Playing out back with Uncle Steve :)

Mariners with Uncle Steve...

My brother, Steve, came out to visit us and really wanted to go to a Mariners game. I know what you are all thinking...they arent very good...well that is true (Clay has informed me plenty of times) but we still had a good time! Plus it was my first time (and Jacks) to a MLB game!!

Oh Jack...always on the look out for planes (a lot flew by during the game and he made sure to point out each and every one!)

Clay is such a nerd...but Jack actually seemed to enjoy our outing and sitting in his own chair (most of the time)!

The BIRDS...this was so scary. It started out with one seagull and he must have told his friends there was a game and so they just started circling looking for food or something. There were so many and they were flying way too close for comfort (even Clay was scared he almost made us move) and it brought me back to when Kristi and I watched 'The Birds' in college and it freaked us out! I totally thought they were going to attack...man birds scare me! Anyways, Steve tried to get a picture of them but this is the best we got...there really were a lot.

They were giving away these bobble heads and Jack really liked it!!!

Clay wandered off to the bathroom at one point and came back with chocolate covered strawberries for us all...oh they were mighty tasty!!!!!

And of course Jack with his Uncle Steve!!!!!!

Just a little project...

Well I saw this idea a while ago from one of the many crafty blogs I check and thought I should try it out! It is a heat resistant hair iron cozy!!

It says to use hot pads as the interior because it is heat resistant. I was having the hardest time finding any that were plain and cheap and finally found some round ones at JoAnns for $1. So with a little creativity I converted them into rectangles (I had to use 4)!

I then used some of my scrap fabric for the exterior. I had the hardest time trying to stitch the top closed and had to give up on the sewing machine and stitch it by hand. Not cute by any means but it will work.

And of course I had to add a bow to make it kind of cute! Now the test will be to see it if works when we travel out to Indiana for Thanksgiving in a couple of months!

Little update...

Well, after another restless night on Friday night...and a late phone call to Dr. Wilson (sorry again about that...we are new parents you know!)...we decided to take Jack to Urgent Care on Saturday. I am sure glad we did. He had a temperature of 102.6 and his tonsils were red and swollen as was his right ear. He also had developed a nasty cough and had a little rattle in his lungs. Thank goodness for Augmentin and Childrens Tylenol...our boy is slowly turning around and actually slept through the night last night...yea!!!! I guess he just needed to get it out of his system before his uncle Steve comes to visit next week!!!

Feeding the animals...

This is my last post tonight I promise!!! At the zoo (in the kids zone) they have a little petting zoo of sorts. We decided to get some food and see how Jack would do feeding the animals. He LOVED it!!! He wasnt afraid at all and kept grabbing for more food! I am glad I got it on video!!!

Zoo and Gifts...

So since Clay took the day off today we kind of decided to 'celebrate' my birthday today. He was going to make me breakfast this morning but after our disastrous night last night that did not happen...which was ok because we ended up toasting some of the great zucchini bread Colleen gave us (using the zucchinis from her garden)! We then decided we would brave going to the zoo by our house and hopefully have no meltdowns (from any of us that is!!). It was a beautiful day and Jack did pretty well but we were all exhausted after a couple of hours. We then headed down to Olympia for a family dinner at Anthonys!

The elephant was right by us and Jack was actually excited about it but when we turned him around to take the picture he saw a plane...hence the pointing. He can spot a plane or hear a train about a mile away...it is crazy and so cute...he always points at them!!!

Dad and Jack watching the beluga whales...looks like Clay is taking a power nap :)

There is a new kids zone at the zoo and Jack loves playing on all of the fun toys!

Could this boy be tired???

***********************************
Well my mom had mentioned that I didnt say what I got for my birthday...I didnt really want to 'brag' about my fun gifts but I did get some fun stuff...so here you go!

Colleen gave me this book...I have started it and it is great...I cant wait to make some of the stuff out of it!!!!
My other sisters-in-law, Kelly and Carie, gave me a coupon to get my nails done so we could all go together for a girls day out...I cant wait!!
Clays parents gave me some beautiful vintage fabric (that I can use to make the cute stuff from my new book) and a couple of books!!!!

And last but definitely not least, Clay got me a Cricut...yea!!!!! How did he know I wanted one??? Ok I am not very subtle in my hints...I was pretty clear about wanting one! He ordered it online so we are still waiting for it to come but in the mean time he did get me the best card...yep, that is Ellen!!!!!!!

What a night!

With Jack recently turning 18 months, Katy and I recently reflected on how good of a baby he has been. One of the things we mentioned is how well of a sleeper he has been. Besides a few occurrances here and there when being sick, Jack normally sleeps from about 7:30pm till around 7am - until last night! For some reason, either because he is not feeling well (his temperature was normal) or because he had a bad dream, Jack would not go to sleep last night. Here is a timeline to illustrate my point.

- 9pm: Put Jack down for bed (we were at my brothers house a little later than normal)
- 10pm: Jack wakes up screaming. We thought he may have been feeling sick so we gave him some Tylenol and then put him back down.
- 11pm: Jack wakes up screaming. Tried everything in the book to get him back to sleep. Nothing worked. Finally, after rocking with him and trying to let him cry it out, I decided to take him on a drive.
-1am to 2am: Jack goes a drive with Dad. I couldn't believe it; he would not fall asleep at all. Finally, when pulling back into our apartment complex he closes his eyes and goes to sleep. However, right when I put him down in crib, he immediately woke up and started screaming. Are we noticing a trend?
- 4am: The parents gave up. I finally decided just to lay Jack down with me on the floor while watching cartoons. I can't even remeber falling asleep. I woke up around 4:40am and Jack had crashed right next to me. Poor little guy must have been so tired.
- 9am: Jack wakes up (Everyone is so tired today!)

Again, probably the worst night our son has ever had.
